World Surfing Reserve
Ericeira has a protected stretch of coast with several world-class breaks, from beginner beaches to expert point breaks.

LISBON AIRPORT TO ERICEIRA
Ericeira is a whitewashed fishing town perched on the cliffs, and it is famous across the world for its surf. It is about 50 km north-west of Lisbon Airport and the transfer takes around 51 minutes.
Public transport can mean a change of vehicle and a long wait, so most visitors find a private transfer the simplest option. Your driver will take you directly to your accommodation, with space for luggage and, if you ask, surfboards.
WHAT TO SEE
Ericeira has a protected stretch of coast with several world-class breaks, from beginner beaches to expert point breaks.
Narrow cobbled lanes and blue-and-white houses lead to a clifftop viewpoint over the sea.
Fresh fish and shellfish are served in small restaurants across town.
The huge baroque palace and convent is on the way and makes a good stop for a day trip.
THE JOURNEY
The route leaves Lisbon on the motorway north-west and finishes on regional roads into town. Summer weekends bring the most traffic, particularly on Friday evenings and Sunday afternoons.
