LISBON AIRPORT TO FÁTIMA
Fátima is one of the most visited pilgrimage sites in Europe, and the Sanctuary welcomes people of all backgrounds throughout the year. The journey from Lisbon Airport is about 121 km and takes around 1 hour 20 minutes, mostly on the motorway.
A private transfer lets you arrive rested and on your own schedule, rather than building a day around bus and train timetables. We can also arrange a return journey so your driver is waiting when you are ready to leave.
WHAT TO SEE
A vast open esplanade faces the Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary, with its tall tower and colonnades.
A small open chapel marks the spot where pilgrims gather to pray, often in silence, day and night.
The nearby hamlets are linked to the story of the three shepherd children and can be visited on foot or by a short drive.
From May to October the 12th and 13th of each month bring large crowds, especially 13 May and 13 October.
THE JOURNEY
The route heads north out of Lisbon on the motorway network and leaves it close to Fátima. Traffic is usually light outside the main pilgrimage days, when roads near the Sanctuary are restricted and you should allow extra time.
